STRIKE! Year 6 go Bowling!

Year 6 had a fun time yesterday. They were lucky enough to have a treat after their SATs the previous week and went bowling.

One class went in the morning and one in the afternoon. The children all enjoyed themselves!

They arranged themselves into teams of between 5 and 7.They quickly found the bowling balls which felt the most comfortable in weight and the sizes of the finger holes. Most children bowled without the crib but all used the gulley frame to give them a better chance of knocking the bowling pins down.
There were several strikes where all 10 “pins” were knocked down- brilliant!!  Some children took 2 goes to knock all the skittles down and score a” spare” whilst others did manage some but not all. Even if not all skittles were knocked down, the children were very supportive of each other and cheered each other on.

The highest score was over 100!!! Everyone had a fun time; we took lots of pictures as a record of a good time.

French Day!

On Thursday 20th March we had a French Day at Wykeham Primary. All of the school got involved by dressing up and we even had a special French themed dinner menu.

During the day the pupils moved around to different sessions from zoo animals and counting to pointillism and researching famous French people. Our cook provided a French lunch menu:

Saucisse & Feves au Lard Cassoulet
Poulet Chasseur
Fromage Baguette
Pommes Frites
Riz (rice)
Carottes au Petit Pois

Followed by Crepes au Limone & Sucre for dessert.

We had some year 9 students from the Albany school come in to help teach the sessions on the day. We had great fun!

Arts Week!

This week children throughout the school have been learning about other cultures through the arts. Children have been participating in a wide range of arts experiences including art, sculpture, dance and drama.

Reception and Year 6 have been looking at European art, Year 1 has been looking at the Native Americans, Year 2 has been looking at Australia, Year 3 has looked at Aztec art, Year 4 has studied Brazil and Year 5 have been looking at African art.

A great deal of fun has been had by all looking at the curricular areas through the creative arts.

Year 3 go back to Tudor Times!

On Wednesday 12th February year 3 went on a trip to Hall Place in Bexley to learn more about the Tudors. We were all very excited about the day.

When we arrived we were greeted by two ladies called Annie and Helen. Annie was dressed as a rich Tudor and Helen was dressed as a poor Tudor.

We were then divided into two groups and completed two different workshops. One of the workshops was about Tudor clothes and dancing, we all dressed up in Tudor clothes and then had a strictly come Tudor lesson. The other workshop was all about Tudor status and how your wealth impacted on what you would of eaten.

We all also made a bees wax candle to take home with us.

We really enjoyed the day (even when it rained).

Year 4 & 5 enjoy an afternoon of Science!

This week, The Royal Liberty School visited Wykeham Primary School to demonstrate many scientific and chemical experiments to the Years 4 and 5 pupils.

The children were enthralled by the experiments, which were shown to them, by the Royal Liberty pupils with great expertise.

It was a fun and informative afternoon.

Class 5S have been learning how to write blogs and this is the blog created by Jessica Lawrence and Jaylan Necati:

Safer Internet Day!

On Tuesday, as part of Safer Internet Day, the whole school took part in some internet safety activities.
